Even being a hardcore Batman fan, there are always still some Dark Knight details to learn and this is a prime example. In this interview for a series on the artworks from Tate Britain‘s collection, Christopher Nolan explains the influence Francis Bacon‘s paintings had on creation of the look for Heath Ledger‘s modern, real-world style Joker in The Dark Knight. Enjoy!
Film meets Art – Chris Nolan inspired by Francis Bacon:
Christopher Nolan reveals how paintings by Francis Bacon inspired the Joker’s smeared make-up in ‘The Dark Knight’. Nolan talks about his longstanding fascination for Bacon’s work, and why, when words fail him, he turns to art to help shape his creative vision.
Unfortunately, Jonathan Banks didn’t win an Emmy, but he’s still a total badass. This episode of Speakeasy is conclusive video evidence. Enjoy!

So far, Beware The Batman is arguably the best Batman cartoon in over a decade. And, from the look of these clips for the fifth episode, it’s going to get even better. Check ’em out. Enjoy.
‘BEWARE THE BATMAN’ – Preview Clip of “Toxic”:
As I’m sure you’ll recall, 1990’s live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film ended with a celebration after the defeat of the fearsome Shredder. Leonardo, Raphael, Michaelangelo and Donatello all offer up battle cries suitable for a bunch of stoner turtles who eat pizza, when Master Splinter suggests the trademark kowabunga, laughter ensues and T.U.R.T.L.E. Power plays over the end credits. Right? Well, what if I told that it was not the original ending to the film. What if I told you that the film actually continued into an alternate ending which involved the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles being pitched as an idea for a comic book (which is where they actually originated in real life)? Don’t believe me? Then take a look below and see for yourself. Enjoy!

DC Nation – Beware The Batman – “Safe” (Clip 2):
“Safe” – Introducing the prototype of his newest product to the world — the Ion Cortex, a device capable of solving the world’s energy crisis — Bruce Wayne hires brilliant scientist Dr. Jason Burr to work on the project. The announcement also draws the attention of one of the most dangerous groups in the world — the League of Assassins. When one of the League’s deadly assassins, Silver Monkey, attacks Wayne Manor to kidnap Burr while Batman’s in Gotham, it’s up to Alfred and Katana to keep the assassin at bay until Batman’s return. But Katana is armed and ready for the task — with her legendary Soultaker Sword, a weapon she stole from the League of Assassins!
After watching the first episode of Beware The Batman last Saturday I thought to myself, I don’t think I’ve seen a Batman cartoon that good in over a decade. And, from the look of these clips for the second episode, it’s going to get even better. Check ’em out. Enjoy.
